Kansas City Kansas Community College utilizes Turnitin, an originality checker to encourage original work, investigate authorship, and deter students from submitting assignments that compromise the institution’s integrity.
Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks your writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. When you submit your paper in Blackboard, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.
Turnitin is integrated into the Assignment tool in all online and face to face Blackboard courses and is managed by Online Education Services. This means that when you upload your paper to your classroom for grading, it will automatically be sent through Turnitin’s repository. The Similarity Report that it generates will help identify possible instances of plagiarism. This report is provided to the class instructor.
