Help the KCKCC Veterans Center Support Wreaths Across America
The Department of Military and Veteran Student Services (KCKCC Veterans Center) is asking KCKCC students, faculty and staff to support this year’s Wreaths Across America Program.
Wreaths Across America is a national non-profit organization that was founded in 2007. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by wreath-laying ceremonies across the nation. This event brings together community service groups and organizations from the local areas to provide assistance and pay respect to the veterans that have been laid to rest. This year’s event is Dec. 19.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the opening ceremony has been canceled and the number of volunteers that will be allowed to place wreaths has been reduced. Because of this, the KCKCC Veterans Center is asking that anyone interested in supporting Wreaths Across America do so by sponsoring a wreath that will be placed on a veteran’s grave at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Sponsoring a wreath is $15. For every two wreaths sponsored, a third is added by Wreaths Across America at no cost. For more information or to sponsor a wreath, visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ks0067.
