In December, KCKCC launched a new partnership with the University of Kansas Health System, the Kansas Board of Regents and Heartland Coca-Cola. Through this multi-partner venture, employees of UKHS who don’t yet have a high school diploma don’t have to leave work or lose pay to receive their GED. KCKCC provides the instruction, KBOR assisted in providing startup funding and through the generosity of UKHS and Heartland Coca-Cola, employees can stay on the clock and attend classes in a room right in the hospital. Starting with approximately 20 students, this new innovative model of collaboration and on-site education is truly a model of best practices and something to be watched in the coming years.
